Renata Ostiak is a photographer and garment designer whose work bridges photography and conceptual fashion.
She works primarily with film photography because of its physical presence and its ability to capture reality rather than replicate it in a virtual form. For her, photography is a way to explore the life she is living, creating visual metaphors for what she feels, observes, and reflects on. She works across documentary and fine art genres, often bringing both into her fashion projects.
Renata also designs and hand-makes garments driven by specific concepts, using clothing as an additional layer of visual storytelling.
Originally from Ukraine, much of her work is shaped by the experiences of war and displacement following the Russian invasion in 2022. She has been based in Wales since 2022.
